My Kingdom for a Horse is a series of films for May Day, giving a platform for all of those who love or hate what May Day stands for. Films and videos about folk heroes, devils and peculiarities; working-class idols; middle-class guilt; peoples' princes and princesses; ethnic pride or shame of many backgrounds and persuasions.
A programme of two classic rarely-screened documentaries about people doing their own thing, and engaging very closely with nature. Plus a special may day puppet show courtesy of The Society of Wonders.
To mark May Day, Margate Rocks invites the most free-thinking musician, artist and general creative man out there, local Kent boy Billy Childish, to entertain you. Billy will be performing a very special solo show, his first performance in Margate for a long time.
A cult figure in America, Europe and Japan, Billy Childish is by far the most prolific painter, poet, and song-writer of his generation. In a twenty year period he has published 30 collections of his poetry, recorded over 70 full-length independent LP's and produced over 1,000 paintings.
