Fanning the Flames

The theatre’s Associate Company scheme leaps forward again with another exciting show from Beady Eye with ‘Everything Must Go...’ It won the Total Theatre Award for devised performance and the Arches Brick Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009. It is touring nationally and internationally in 2010, including a two week run at the Barbican in June. It was presented at Caravan International Showcase in Brighton in May 2010.

A father/daughter collaboration, Everything Must Go is a heartfelt exploration of an extraordinary life. Intended to be staged as a duo, innovative performer Kristin Fredricksson beautifully pays tribute to her late father, the charismatic artist Karl Fredricksson, using cinefilm, clowning, dance, puppetry and hurdling as she shares intimate details of his life with the audience.

Dad trains for the Olympics by day and drags up to the nines by night.

His photos and Super 8s inhabit the scene and reveal the man. Reality, age and obsession set in. His money-saving schemes become increasingly elaborate, from the secrets of free water to newspaper-stealing shoes. But evetually everything must go. This moving meditation on love, loss and memory is here for one night only.

“Kristin has a singular, human and original attitude to her work. Combine this with her impressive physical understanding and a rigour that is more often found in dancers than actors, and you have a very special artist”.

 Will Wollen, Artistic Director

“Being an associate of Theatre Royal Margate offers Beady Eye the support and expertise of the theatre's team as well as opening up a dialogue about future projects and collaborations. It adds credibility to our identity as a theatre company based in the South East region and it affords the chance to reflect and act on what it means to create theatre in a part of the country without large cities and without a ready-made arts network”.

Kristin Fredricksson, Founder/ Director Beady Eye
